Middlesbrough took an early lead when Uche Ikpeazu scored after 7 minutes, making it 0-1.
1-1 came through an own-goal in the 48th minute.
Queens Park Rangers’ Moses Odubajo was sent off in the 50th minute.
With more than 30 minutes on the clock, Queens Park Rangers’s Lyndon Dykes found the net and gave Queens Park Rangers the lead.
Matt Crooks equalised for Middlesbrough in the 72nd minute.
Chris Willock scored the decider, in the 76th minute. The 3-2 goal was the last one of the game.
After three games, Middlesbrough have four points while Queens Park Rangers have seven.
On Saturday, Middlesboro will host Derby at 3pm and Queens Park will play against Barnsley at 12:30 pm.
