The home side Mansfield put on a solid performance in the first half against Newport County on Saturday and were up 2-1 by half time. Newport Co couldn’t find a way back into the game and Mansfield won the England League Two game 2-1 (2-1).
Mansfield scored the first goal when George Maris scored after 7 minutes, making it 0-1.
Newport County equalised to 1-1 early in the match when Robbie Willmott made his mark as he scored in the 9th minute.
Mansfield took the lead just before the half-time whistle as Ollie Clarke scored. The teams were unable to score in the second half and the game ended with a 2-1 win for Mansfield.
Mansfield will host Colchester on Tuesday. Newport Co will face Tranmere at Prenton Park on Saturday.
