If you thought soccer was nuts, wait until you read about this incredible story that we have for you.

According to reports in Italy, Walter Mazzarri has been sacked by Cagliari as they look to change things up and try to save themselves from the drop in the country’s top league.

However, this is not the bizarre thing to have happened, as it has also been claimed that he has had his contract extended until 2024 at the same time! Yes, those who use allvideoslots will be used to the level of the bizarreness of the situation as they would have found some incredible offers, however it could be argued that this story really takes the biscuit!

This is claimed to be because of a clause that he had in his contract that meant that he would have his deal with his former employers extended if he were to be dismissed whilst the team were not in the relegation zone. It has also been revealed that the said clause was implemented in his most recent deal which was signed in September last year.

With Cagliari still two points clear of the drop and sitting in 17th with three games left of the season, it would seem the Serie A club triggered that clause, thus subsequently firing and extending Mazzarri’s deal simultaneously.

They released a short statement on the club’s official Twitter profile – one sentence to be precise – confirming his dismissal but did not note anything about the extension he had received. They wrote: “Cagliari Calcio announces that it has relieved Walter Mazzarri from his post as first-team coach.”

Mazzarri may be a name that is familiar to some football fans around the world, despite largely managing within Italy.

He was once the man in charge at Watford in the Premier League, however as with all managerial spells under the Pozzo family, it did not last very long whilst he was also rumoured to be a potential Liverpool boss when they were looking for someone to take over following the dismissal of Brendan Rodgers; the Reds ultimately plumped for Jurgen Klopp and as they say, the rest is history!

With this clause in mind, it would seem that he will either get a nice payout from Cagliari in order to end the contract, or he will get paid from them between now and 2024, although that would perhaps depend on whether he gets another role between now and then, too.
