Landon Donovan asking to prolong stay at Everton

Written By: Herbert Maldonado on March 9, 2010 No Comment

Los Angeles Galaxy star. Landon Donovan, has went on to tell his club that he wishes to extend his loan deal with his current club Everton as he is enjoying great success in one of the best leagues in the world. Although he does know the current feelings of Bruce Arena who has stated that there is no chance of him staying at Everton (although in recent reports it went from no chance to 1 in a million chance), he still wishes that he will stay put with Everton at least till the end of the season but is prepared for disappointment.

Landon Donovan displayed great skills in Everton’s 5-1 win over Hull City as he was able to score a goal and assist on an other (should have been 2 assist if Yakubu actually finished), and showed his value to Everton as the club has enjoyed great success ever since Donovan joined the club. Although Donovan is not finished yet, his last home game with Everton was set to be against Hull City considering his loan stay does not get extended and his last game under Moyes will be against Birmingham City before having to return to Los Angeles on March 15th.

If Donovan is able to get a loan extension at Everton somehow, it will only be for a month as he will certainly be back at Los Angeles in time for the start of the MLS season.

Landon Donovan went on to say the following :

“I have told Galaxy what I want; they know what’s going on and I speak to my manager there often, Both clubs know how I feel, which is that I would like to stay, though I can’t end the season here, I’d have to go back April 15 at the latest. If that can be worked out, great. If not, then the Galaxy are my team and I’m very grateful for the chance I had here. It would be bittersweet either way. I’d like to go back home and start with my team-mates, I miss them, because I have played with them for three, four, five years in LA, if I leave here I will be excited to go home, but it would be sad to leave. It’s absolutely improved me. It’s impossible not to. I have learnt a lot technically, tactically, how to keep myself motivated. It absolutely puts me in a stronger position for the World Cup. But the biggest thing is having the confidence I can play against anybody and not fear anyone. We can’t worry about what people think of the US. I want to do well and what people think about us, what they perceive, is out of our control.”
